Eindhoven Creative Community is informal and non-commercial. Joining is free, and the community does not earn money from memberships or activities.

Most meetups are free. Some clearly marked events support a named charity, while external events may have their own admission price. Every event page states this transparently.

Masterclass Licht voor Regisseurs met gaffer Rik Vaessen

Natlab, Kastanjelaan 500, Eindhoven

Light is a storytelling tool. And as a director, you don’t need to know how to build lamps to take control of it. On Friday 30 October, you’ll spend a full day working with Brabant-based gaffer Rik Vaessen in and around Natlab. You’ll learn how to translate a lighting idea from paper to set, and which questions to ask your DOP and gaffer. Beforehand, you’ll receive a scene. At home, you prepare a shot breakdown for your section and a moodboard focused on light. On the day, you discuss these, scout the location, and then light and shoot the scene in two directing teams. No DOP or camera experience is required. Programme: 10:00 introduction and discussion · 12:00 lunch · 12:30 recce in and around Natlab · 14:30 light and shoot the scene · 17:30 wrap-up and reflection · 18:00 drinks. There are six places. Participation costs €80. It is an intensive masterclass using professional equipment and guidance, but the organisers want it to remain accessible to Brabant filmmakers; if the price is the reason you cannot join, contact BROET.
